Modak Community

Some of the Duttas hailing from the western region of West Bengal belong to our community. We carry the surname Dutta Modak. As Duttas hailing from West Bengal and Tripura, we are said to belong to the Kshatriya clan. We worship Assamese saints like Shankardev and Madhavdev and do not engage in idol worship. We are also known as Dattas in parts of Assam.
